What ambiguity? I don't know much about Bishop Conti, but the article spend several paragraphs acing. If he had sted his own 95 Theses and then, at the end tells the rest of the story:

"“There is no question of anybody being refused communion if they choose to kneel,” a spokesman for the Archdiocese of Glasgow told CNA on Aug. 30.

“The purpose of the bishop’s letter is to encourage, and certainly not diminish, devotion to the Blessed Sacrament by reminding people of the need to make an act of reverence before receiving Holy Communion standing and in procession – which is the overwhelming custom in the diocese and the rest of Europe.”

See, if you put that paragraph at the beginning of the story, I guess it wouldn't be as sensational. But, it would be more accurate, and less of an agenda driven editorial.

Every
subject's duty is the king's; but every subject's
soul is his own. Therefore should every soldier in
the wars do as every sick man in his bed, wash every
mote out of his conscience: and dying so, death
is to him advantage; or not dying, the time was
blessedly lost wherein such preparation was gained:
and in him that escapes, it were not sin to think
that, making God so free an offer, He let him
outlive that day to see His greatness and to teach
others how they should prepare.

We are not obligated to follow unlawful orders, on the contrary we are obligated to resist them.

Just another reason why the Doctrinal discussions between the Holy See and the SSPX need to be made public (God's time but soon please) and a decision which results in an Encylical on Liturgy or Exhortation clearing away any left over confusion from the doctrinal questions from Vat II and its' implementation, and how they affect us all. All these topics so often discussed need to be discussed in detail even if there are hundreds of points. Errant practices and attitudes must be corrected and purged. An authoratative document that will be part of the Magesterium will be a powerful tool for lay people to use to help correct the abuses for centuries to come. The document needs to be definitive and firm. The Kneeling issue on the top of the list. Followed by Communion in the Hand. Too many Priests, and Bishops are confusing the heck out of us lay folk with all this dissention and outright opposition to Rome. Each citing their own historical document, or sentence from, to back up there wayward ways and practices. They are misleading thousands. It is time for a new document/Encyclical that is totally devoted to this once and for all. Everyone will have to refer to such a document and since continuity is the theme of this Pontificate I expect all previous documents with square up with the newly clarified or unclouded truths and desires of Holy Mother Church.
