I'm afraid that the bishops have a problem of their own making: they like, on the one hand, getting things from the FedGuv, but dislike, on the other, being told what they must do by that same FedGuv.

Difficult though it may be, it is worth considering whether we would not all be better off if the bishops decided we must divorce ourselves from Federal funding. It seems to work well for the likes of Hillsdale College.

This is not to say that Medicare and MedicAid are not real problems--they are. But these are also the foot in the door through which the FedGuv works its evil.

The government should guard the coast and deliver the mail.

Bill, What do you mean the Bishops like getting things from the Federal Government?
What are you referring to?

SL, The Democratic Party has always patted Bishops on the head and they have wagged their tails and sat up. Now, they have been scorned and, I suppose, are biting the hand that fed them...on one level, I really love it.

I agree with Bill. Catholic Institutions should accept NO FEDERAL money. That means costs will be higher at Catholic Hospitals and Catholic Universities, but so wait, at least they would be free from the taint of Government Interference.

Gene's half right, the Government has the authority to deliver the mail, but a 200+ year record of failure and should contract it out to the private sector
