DID THE HOLY FATHER ALSO GREET AND WARMLY EMBRACE THE FOUR DUBIA CARDINALS?

MASS IS IN LATIN

27/06/2017 14:24

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis celebrated Mass on Tuesday morning in the Pauline Chapel of the Apostolic Palace, together with the members of the College of Cardinals present in the city, in order to mark the 25th jubilee of his ordination to the episcopacy.

The Dean of the College of Cardinals offered greetings and best wishes to Pope Francis on the occasion, recalling the words of St. Paul the Apostle in his Second Letter to the Corinthians, “Make room for us in your hearts,” Cardinal Sodano said. “Holy Father, you need not tell us to make room for you in our hearts,” he continued, pledging him all the love and reverence due the Successor to Peter.

In remarks following the Readings of the Day, the first of which was taken from the Book of Genesis, recounting the episode in which Abraham and Lot part ways, Pope Francis focused on the three imperatives that God gives the Father of Faith: “Arise!” “Look out!” “Be hopeful!”

“When Abraham was called, he was more or less our age,” Pope Francis said to the elder statesmen of the Church. “He was going to retire, to go into retirement for some rest – he started out at that age.”

“An old man,” the Pope continued, “with the weight of old age, old age that brings pain, illness – but [God said to him], as if he were a young man, ‘Get up, go, go! As if he were a scout: go! Look and hope!’”

The Holy Father went on to say that the message God gave to Abraham in that day, He also gives to each of those present in this day: to be on the way, about the journey; to look toward the ever-retreating horizon, and to hope without stint, despite it all.

“There are those, who do not love us, who say that we are the ‘Gerontocracy’ of the Church. This is mere mockery. Whoever says so knows not what he says. We are not tired old fools [It. geronti]: we are grandfathers. And if we do not feel this, we must ask the grace to feel that it is so. We are grandfathers, to whom our grandchildren look – grandparents who, with our experience, must share with those grandchildren a sense of what life is really about - grandparents not closed off in melancholy over our salad days, but open to give this [gift] of meaning, of sense. For us, then, this threefold imperative: ‘Arise! Look outward! Hope!” is called ‘dreaming’. We are grandfathers called to dream and to pass on our dream to today’s youth: they need it, that they might take from our dreams the power to prophesy and carry on their work.”

After the Mass, the Holy Father greeted the Cardinal-concelebrants one-by-one.

I must say seeing that sea of green was a bit jarring. Is that really an improvement over choir habit?

This Pope just said that "we need one-world government to save humanity." Has this man ever read the Bible...a New Testament theology book? Was he paying attention?

Amazing. An entire room filled with men who have no backbones and yet they can walk upright. That is a miracle.

Where can we find this alleged statement?

Once again I would request that you (and others who make similar provocative claims) about what the Pope “just said” provide some citation. I have been on the internet and can find no current reference to any such statement by Pope Francis. I do find some relevant speculation in connection with release of the then upcoming encyclical Laudato Si back in 2015.

Please help those of us whose may not be very skilled in internet research skills. Without a reference it is difficult for some of us to verify a claim and also to have the context in order to grasp more precisely what Pope Francis meant by whatever he said.

And then, of course, it is possible (probable?) that any website on which you found this alleged statement was either “fake news” (I mean, the real “fake news” that is made up, not the fake “fake news” that is just news one doesn’t like) or a re-circulation of an old story.

Thanks for the references but that search is what I did and I just did it again. As I thought, the allegation does not relate to any current or recent statement but to the Pope's Encyclicals, in particular Laudato Si, and a critic’s “interpretation” of what the Pope is urging, in particular it seems George Neumayr in a new book “The Political Pope.” Here is the first page of results for my Yahoo search:

https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=Pope+world+government&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-004

So it seems that Pope Francis has not “just said” what you said he said. Whatever he said is some time ago and in order to determine whether he really did say “we need one world government to save humanity” we will need to check those encyclicals again and perhaps read Neumayr’s book as well.

Where did you get the language “we need one world government to save humanity” from? And does it purport to be a quote from the Pope himself or is it the writer’s “interpretation” of what the Pope said? And in any case, what do the words actually mean?

Oh, and one final question: How does what Pope Francis has advocated, whatever that actually is, differ from what Pope Benedict advocated?

Sorry to be a pain (I’m not really sorry =)), but reality, truth, and critical thinking are hard aren’t they? And yet engage in them we must, or else we will lose our minds, and likely the Republic as well, and perhaps (for some) even our faith. So the stakes are high and our responsibility to the Truth is correspondingly great.

This is from Yournewswire.com: It is also reported in several other sources. Parse them and spin them all you like. Benedict may also have said it, and that makes him wrong, too.

"Pope Francis called for “a one world government” and “political authority” this week, arguing that the creation of the one world government is needed to combat major issues such as “climate change.”

Speaking with Ecuador’s “El Universo” newspaper, the Pope said that the United Nations doesnt have enough power and must be granted full governmental control “for the good of humanity.”

But what is raising eyebrows is the Pope’s call for a new global political authority. Here is more from the Guardian:

Pope Francis will this week call for changes in lifestyles and energy consumption to avert the “unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem” before the end of this century, according to a leaked draft of a papal encyclical. In a document released by an Italian magazine on Monday, the pontiff will warn that failure to act would have “grave consequences for all of us”.

Francis also called for a new global political authority tasked with “tackling … the reduction of pollution and the development of poor countries and regions”. His appeal echoed that of his predecessor, pope Benedict XVI, who in a 2009 encyclical proposed a kind of super-UN to deal with the world’s economic problems and injustices."

I read that too. The Baxter Dmitry article in “YourNewsWire.com” begins by claiming that “Pope Francis called for ‘a one world government’ and ‘political authority’ this week, arguing that the creation of the one world government is needed to combat major issues such as ‘climate change.’” The rest of the article is intended to support this claim. Here are the problems:

(1) Dmitry continues:

“Speaking with Ecuador’s ‘El Universo’ newspaper, the Pope said that the United Nations doesn’t have enough power and must be granted full governmental control ‘for the good of humanity.’”

How do we know that this is what the Pope said? In fact, how do we even know there was such an interview in the first place? I have tried to find the interview or at least a discussion of it on the internet. The only references that come up are to this same Baxter Dmitry article in “YourNewsWire.com” or the many other websites that repost it verbatim. Even assuming the interview does exist and that it addresses relevant subject matter (which given Dmitry’s unreliability on other matters (see below) one has reason to doubt), what did the Pope actually say? What were his actual words?

(2) Dmitry continues immediately with:

“But what is raising eyebrows is the Pope’s call for a new global political authority. Here is more from the Guardian”

This phraseology strongly suggests that what we are about to read in the quoted extract from the Guardian is about something the Pope said very recently and that the Guardian reports on very recently. Not so. You include the extract in your comment. But did you click on the link? If you do so, you will see that the Guardian article in question is dated June 13, 2015 and that it is about the then anticipated papal encyclical Laudato Si.

(3) The author then engages in a typical conspiracy theory rant about religious leaders playing their part in a great deception intended to foist the “New World Order” upon us. Here he links to his January 10, 2017 article claiming that “New World Order demagogue Pope Francis has rung in the new year by calling for the establishment of a ‘global public authority’ and a ‘central world bank’ to rule over financial institutions and the increasingly unruly masses:”

http://yournewswire.com/pope-francis-global-central-bank/

His justification for this claim about Francis is a Vatican document entitled “Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary Systems in the Context of a Global Public Authority”

In fact, however, the document is from 2011, well before Francis became Pope. Oooops!:

(4) Well, let’s go on and see if it gets any better. Spoiler alert—it doesn’t. Dmitry continues his rant against the “New World Order’s one world government” by referencing the June 14, 2017 joint video by the leaders of the world’s various religions, including Pope Francis, “calling on people to embrace ideas of friendship and unity, and to overcome negativity and division in society.” Dmitry asserts that this is a “call for world government.” The absurdity of this claim should be self-evident. Here is the video of what the religious leaders actually said (Dmitry does at least include it in his article—did you watch it?):

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvLtNeIAcpTgZFjoNrCqAKA

And here is the longer video on the event:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRoUlohRiKQ&t=195s

I did not know about the Make Friends Initiative or about the Elijah Interfaith Institute that coordinated it and am glad that I do now (ironically perhaps, thanks to you and this article). I fully support this wonderful endeavor, and so in my view should any Catholic. This is not indifferentism. It is simple human decency.

(5) Dmitry ends his article by expressing legitimate concern about “global surveillance, global wealth inequality and a world run by the exact corrupt interests currently consolidating wealth and power worldwide.” But then he irrationally suggests that Pope Francis – who notoriously inveighs against these very things – is himself one of the “wealthy elitists” who form this cabal.

To conclude, given the inaccuracies, twisted facts, and irrational conspiracy theory rantings, the “YourNewsWire.com” website has no business claiming in its byline: “News. Truth. Unfiltered.” The only thing that seems accurate about this byline is the last word “unfiltered.” Sound like anyone you know? Clue: His name begins with T.

I just had the thought that it might be useful for you and other readers if I Googled “YourNewsWire.com.” I found this description on Rational Wiki. I am not surprised:

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/YourNewsWire

Some highlights:

“YourNewsWire (styled as YourNewsWire.com) is an Los Angeles-based clickbait fake news website known for disseminating conspiracy theories and misleading information, contrary to its claimed motto (“News. Truth. Unfiltered”). . . .

Media Bias/Fact Check (MBFC) classifies YourNewsWire as ‘Conspiracy/Pseudoscience’, arguing that it “mixes” conspiracy theories with legitimate news, presumably to confuse readers into believing in the conspiracy theories.

YourNewsWire appears to be pro-Russian: According to Boswell, the European Union’s East StratCom Task Force criticised YourNewsWire for using fake news to favour Russian policy. However, Joel Harding (a Kremlin propaganda expert) believed that Russians were using YourNewsWire as a mule or proxy to spread disinformation.

On 24 May 2017, Snopes warned that YourNewsWire had a “long record of promoting false information”, after debunking a false claim (by YourNewsWire) that a suicide bombing attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, United Kingdom, was a hoax or an inside job. YourNewsWire was one of the websites that promoted the Pizzagate conspiracy theory.

The Manchester attacks claim was the eighth time that Snopes debunked YourNewsWire, having previously chided them for falsely claiming that Adolf Hitler faked his suicide and escaped to Argentina, and that 25 Million Fraudulent Votes Were Cast for Hillary Clinton.”

______________________________

The findings in my previous post analyzing the YourNewsWire.com Pope Francis “one world government” story you linked would seem to bear out this information. I must admit I did indeed wonder about a possible Russian connection.

So now you know. I do not understand how any genuine Catholic or any genuine patriot could deliberately propagate such “fake news.” I will give you the benefit of the doubt, just as I gave Jan the benefit of the doubt (remember Jan? What has happened to her?), and assume that you were duped by those propagating such evil lies.

It is time to wake up and fight back against such evil lies. I hope that you and others will join me in doing whatever we can to exercise our critical thinking faculties and to debunk fake news stories wherever we encounter them. The people who propagate and further promote such stories are the real “enemies” of the Republic and the Faith, not Catholics who happen to disagree with you about this or that.

And Gene actually took the bait? NO!

This was in several other venues. Perhaps they took the bait, as well. It is certainly in keeping with this Pope's other statements, his third World Leftist theology, and his faith in humanity ratrher than God.

“This was in several other venues. Perhaps they took the bait, as well.”

But what kind of venues are they? Did you check them out?

“It is certainly in keeping with this Pope's other statements, his third World Leftist theology, and his faith in humanity rather than God.”

This is all your opinion, not necessarily fact. And what sources shape your opinion?

Please justify this opinion that the allegation that Pope Francis has just advocated “one world government” is “in keeping with”:

 “this Pope’s other statements”
 “his Third World leftist ideology”
 “his faith in humanity rather than God’

In doing so, please:

 Define the term “one world government”
 Cite the relevant “other statements”
 Define “Third World leftist ideology”
 Explain why you think Pope Francis has “faith in humanity rather than God.”
